How We Provided Fast and Reliable WiFi in a Cottage House?

A Case Study of Our Latest WiFi Mesh Installation Project.

In January of this year, we received an inquiry from a customer in Blaisdon, located west of our headquarters in Gloucester. The customer asked if we handled home WiFi networks. Of course, we said yes! During the initial free consultation, our goal was to understand the customer’s needs and propose the best possible solution.

Stage 1: Needs Analysis and Planning

We met the customer on January 25th. The customer showed us around their property, which consisted of a two-story house cottage and a detached garage with an annex that was intended to serve as a home office. The main goal was to ensure stable and fast WiFi coverage throughout the house and the future office.
During the initial inspection, we conducted WiFi signal strength measurements. It turned out that the signal was strong and stable only near the provider’s router, located in the porch. Just a few meters away, the connection speed dropped significantly, and in some areas, the signal was practically nonexistent.
After a thorough analysis, we proposed a solution in the form of a home WiFi Mesh network based on TP-Link Deco X50 devices. The customer accepted our proposal and ordered six units. We also helped them find the most affordable supplier, and after the equipment was delivered, we scheduled the installation.

Stage 2: Implementation

On February 1st, we began the project. First, we checked the requirements on the side of the internet provider, Gigaclear, which did not pose any technical obstacles. Then, we proceeded to replace the provider’s router with the TP-Link Deco X50.
After successfully configuring the first device, we expanded the system with additional units to extend the wireless network coverage. Each device was carefully tested for signal strength and throughput to ensure optimal coverage across the entire property.
We paid special attention to the annex, which was intended to serve as an office. Thanks to the thoughtful placement of the WiFi Mesh devices, we were able to provide stable and fast internet access in this area, where previously there had been no signal at all.

Stage 3: Testing and Deployment

At the end of the work, we provided the customer with login details for the Deco TP-Link app, which allows them to monitor the network status, update the software, and quickly diagnose any potential issues. This gave the customer full control over their network without the need for additional services.

Summary and Results

We are extremely pleased with the results of our work. Before our intervention, the WiFi speed in the hallway was 150 Mbps, but in other rooms, it dropped to just 20 Mbps, and in the annex, there was practically no signal. After completing the work, the average speed in every tested location ranged from 100 to 150 Mbps, fully meeting the customer’s expectations.

We are delighted that our excellent reviews on Google Maps encouraged the customer to contact us. Thank you for your trust, and we invite other customers to collaborate with us! If you have similar challenges with your home or office WiFi network, get in touch – we’d be happy to help!
